Rounding Numbers
We have now begun work on rounding numbers. I have showed the students 2 strategies they may use to round the numbers and they may use either of these strategies, or any other successful strategies that work best for them. The first strategy I taught them involves using two of the digits together to decide if they will stay in the same "ten" or round up to the next ten. I have broken it into four steps, which I have posted in a chart in class (and will post it below). The second way I showed the students is the way shown in the textbook using all of the digits to the right of the digit to decide if it should remain the same digit, or be rounded up to the next ten/ hundred/ thousand/ ten thousand.
