Math: Representing Numbers
We have begun the year in math representing numbers in different ways. The grade 4 students have been working with numbers up to 10 000, while the grade 5 students have been working with numbers up to 100 000. Below I have included our anchor chart with the examples of the different forms we have been using to represent numbers. Students should also be able to identify how much each digit is worth (it's value) in a given number. For example, in the number 3572 the 7 is worth 70, the 3 is worth 3000, the 5 is worth 500, and the 2 is worth 2. Students should practice identifying these digits in numbers and representing numbers in the different ways we have discussed.
