- Match fractions with their words (ie: 1/2 = one half, 3/4 = three fourths or three quarters)
- know which number in a fraction is a numerator, and which is a denominator
-identify the denominator as the number of pieces in the whole, and the numerator as the number of pieces being referred to (or talked about)
-Compare fractions using >,<, or = and order them from least to greatest or greatest to least (including improper fractions and mixed numbers)
-Compare fractions to the benchmarks of 0, 1/2, or 1.
-Write the decimal based on a picture (for tenths or halves)
-compare decimals using >,<, or = and order them from least to greatest or greatest to least (including Whole numbers with decimals)
-Count forward by tenths from a given decimal (ie: 1.7, ---> 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2)
-Change given fractions into decimals and change given decimals into fractions using halves and tenths (including Whole numbers with decimals, improper fractions, and mixed numbers)
Gr. 5 students will need towork with improper fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals to the hundredths including whole numbers with decimals to:
- Write fractions based on given picture representations
-Compare fractions using >,<, = and order them from greatest to least or least to greatest
- Identify equivalent fractions
- Identify equivalent decimals
- Count forward by hundredths (1.87--> 1.88, 1.89, 1.9, 1.91, 1.92)
-Solve problems involving the addition and subtraction of decimals in the tenths and hundredths.
- Multiplying decimals by 10, 100, or 1000.
